I began writing about Warcraft in 2008, with the first iteration of this site coming into being on Google’s Blogger platform in February 2009. On April 16th, 2016 everything was transferred to a WordPress-based system, mostly to allow better design and customisation. On March 12th, 2018, I took the decision to stop telling people I’m a Warcraft blogger and became a writer who enjoys playing this game instead. As of January 2019, just before the tenth anniversary of my first ever post, its contents have served as the inspiration to redefine what happens here going forward.

This is the blog that quite literally saved my life.

In the depths of depression, somewhere in 2009, I contemplated suicide. It was the people who cared about me in Azeroth who eventually provided impetus to change my life: starting to exercise again, to begin podcasting, and eventually take a job writing about the game for actual cash. I gave up that weekly column to go it alone in 2016, planning to become a ‘proper’ writer, and at the end of 2018 my first piece of poetry was published in the Poetry Society newsletter. I’ll also be performing that poem live in London during February 2019.

So, it seemed imminently sensible that in the month where I celebrate 10 years of Warcraft, and a massive 40 years as a gamer, that this site should evolve away from what it was and become something more representative of what my life has been, with gaming at its core.

Welcome to the Next Level of my Gaming Existence online.

  1. What a fine site you have here :) Looking forward to dive in! Oh the overview of your transmogs are great too – I discovered a few of them not working though, really wanted to check out all of them :)
